Carson High senior Rachel Palmer has been awarded the 2003 "For the Good of the Game" scholarship from the Carson City Municipal Golf Corporation.

The nonprofit board is made up of local volunteers that manages Eagle Valley Golf.

Whether working or playing, Palmer is passionate about being involved with the game. Previously, she has worked at both Empire Ranch and The Golf Club at Genoa Lakes, and currently works in the Pro Shop at Eagle Valley Golf.

Eight months ago she was playing with a handicap index of 42.6 but through hard work and dedication to the game she has lowered that to a 19.7, and would like to someday play at a professional level. She has decided to attend UNLV and plans to major in recreation with a focus in professional golf management. Palmer is the daughter of Richard Palmer and Rhonda Glisson.
