Race your 'Mad Mutha-in-Law'

Get ready thunderheads, on May 31, for the first time ever in the state of Nevada, Ponderosa Stamp & Engraving will present the inaugural Mad Mutha-in-law Race at the Champion Motor Speedway.

The event is open to any man (over the age of 18) who can tolerate a woman (over the age of 18) screaming at him for 10 desperate laps!

How it works -- The male driver will have a helmet on and a large paper bag will be placed over his helmet and secured with tape. He will be driving blind during this event. If he takes his hands off the steering wheel or attempts to remove or tear the bag -- he will be disqualified.

The woman will sit in the passenger side of the backseat -- also with a helmet on and will provide instructions to the driver.

Cars do not have to be licensed. Cars from a junkyard are recommended. All cars must remain stock and meet the mandated safety requirements. The event will get under way from a standing start formation with the starting order determined by the date of entry.

Without question, this event will provide one of the wildest nights of racing ever witnessed at the Champion Motor Speedway.

However when the dust finally settles -- one lucky team of thunderheads will walk away with questionable bragging rights for one full year, the first-ever Mad Mutha-in-law championship trophy in hand, and $600 in cold hard cash.

The rules are as follows:

-- 10 lap dash for cash -- $600 -- winner takes all.

-- All competitors must be at least 18 years of age.

-- Female back seat driver does not have to be your Mad Mutha-in-law. Any woman 18 years of age or older is eligible.

-- Any stock, full-sized sedan street car will be allowed.

-- No performance modifications will be allowed.

-- All competitors must have seat belts and helmets.

-- All glass and plastic must be removed or taped, side glass must be rolled down.

Early bird entry fee: (includes car and two participants) $40 before May 30; race day entry fee: $50 (May 31) plus pit crew entry fee of $20. Starting positions will be determined by hand-delivered or postmarked entry application dates.

Also on the May 31 lineup will be the Western Modifieds, Limited Late Models, Hustlin Hornets, Fast Four Trophy Dashes and TagTeam Bombers.

General admission to the grandstands is $9, seniors (55 and older) and military (with ID) are $7, teens (18-13) are $5, juniors (12-6) are $3, kids (5-younger) are free, as is event parking.

The pits open at 3 p.m., front gates open at 5 p.m., and the show starts at 7.
