Turkey Trot today
Staff reports
Even though the location has been switched, runners and walkers will find one aspect of entered in Turkey Trot 2003 unchanged today.
The course will be challenging.
More than 100 entries are expected to turn out for the annual event, 5- and 10-kilometer races that start at 9 a.m. from B'Sghetti's Restaurant in Carson City.
"The good news is, both the 5- and 10-k courses finish on a downhill," race organizer Tim Tetz said. "The bad news is, you have to run uphill to start out."
Both courses head up and return on King Street. The 10-K entrants will face a climb that extends all the way to the top of Kings Canyon Road, according to Tetz.
First-place finishers in each age group will earn turkeys and second-place finishers will take home pies. All entrants will receive commemorative sweatshirts.
The Turkey Trot is being held to benefit the Carson City Sundowner Rotary Club.
