Carson volleyball team sweeps past Reno

The Carson High volleyball team stayed unbeated in the Sierra League with a sweep on Thursday at Reno, winning 25-14, 25-12, 25-14.


Kaitlin Brush had 10 kills, Adrienne Fletcher had eight kills, Nicole Scott and Catherine Brekken each had six kills and three blocks and Colleen Etcheverria added two kills for Carson. Tabitha Adams set the attack.


Carson coach also said that Sydney Parker's defensive play was a key to his team's win in game one. He added that Jenna Mechum, Melanie Norvell, Erin Amodei and Lindsay Kern all passed well.


"We're still getting better," James said. "We're still improving. We're still trying to move forward. We're happy with where we're going."


DAYTON 3, NORTH TAHOE 0


Amanda Sbragia had 14 kills and eight blocks for Dayton (8-0, 7-0 in the Northern 3A) in its 25-15, 28-26, 25-13 win over North Tahoe.


Carey Kytle had eight kills, four blocks and two digs, Amanda Ring served for 10 points and two aces and had six kills and seven digs, Sarah Connett served for six points and an ace and had one kill, two blocks, 17 assists and five digs, April Thompson had four kills and three digs, Danielle Rodriguez served for five points and an ace and had several assists and 11 digs, Nicole Greer had two kills, Bridgette Galles served for 16 points and an ace and had one kill, one block, seven assists and five digs, Tricia Moli served for four points and two aces and Natalie Malekos served for nine points and had one kill and three digs.


Dayton lost the junior varsity match while the freshmen won.
