I.S. Robinson, formerly a conductor on the Virginia & Truckee Railroad, is lying at the point of death at Hermosille, and Dalton, another employee of the company, is also very sick with the same disease. The state contract for 100 cords of wood has been awarded to L.L. Crockett for $7.80 a cord. It must be delivered, sawed, split and piled.
100 YEARS AGO
The road from the end of the Ormsby County line as far as Cradelbaugh's bridge is in very disgraceful condition when the richness of the valley is considered. When it becomes necessary to "fix" the road, the commissioners order a few wagon loads of sagebrush hauled into the chucks. The Alpine roads are kept in order.

Leisure Hour Club opens the new season with 12 new members including Mrs. B.W. Coleman, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wallace and Mrs. Edith Fritsch. One contest had all the contestants in an oratorical contest orating at once on several subjects.

The Nevada Day Committee and representatives of the Ormsby County (Carson City) Ministerial Association will meet to iron out the clergymen's objections to holding the Nevada Day Indian Parade on Sunday. The regular parade will be held Saturday Oct. 31.

Carson-Tahoe Hospital births, to Debra and Stephen Wright of Gardnerville, a son, Joseph Michael, Sept. 23.

Board of Trustees of the Community Council on Youth has announced the appointment of Jan H. Kuehnert as the new executive director. She succeeds former director Helaine Jesse.
