A memorial service for Larry W. Plympton, 46, a Gardnerville resident, will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Carson Colony Gym, 2900 S. Curry St., Carson City. A dinner will follow the service.
Mr. Plympton died Oct. 6, 2003, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Aug. 1, 1957, in Schurz, to Louis V. and Kathryn Rogers Plympton.
He was a lifetime Nevada resident and moved to Dresslerville in 1988.
Mr. Plympton worked as a journeyman carpenter in the Lake Tahoe area. He also worked as a mason and an auto body repairman. He was a well-known traditional singer throughout the American Indian community. He was very active in American Indian traditional beliefs and practices. He was a drum maker.
Among his survivors are his wife Lorraine "Pebby" of Gardnerville; sons Martin Montgomery III and Christopher and Thomas Montgomery, all of Gardnerville; daughters Rebecca Montgomery, Dorothy Plympton of Gardnerville and Toni-Melissa Plympton; mothe,r Kathryn Rogers; brothers Jimmy "JP" Plympton, Darin Rogers and Emmett Rogers; sisters Jeanette Plympton, Priscilla Plympton-Burhus, Althea Escobar, Jennifer Hernandez, Kathy Plympton and Cynthia Robertson; uncle, Louis Skaggs of Sparks; great-aunts Helen Williams of Schurz, Ruth Sanchez of Carson City and Roberta Phoenix of Sutcliffe; aunts LaVelle Lennon of Carson City and Agatha Garcia of Yuba City, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
