MINDEN -- East Fork Township Justice Court Judge Jim EnEarl will appear before a discipline commission in Carson City today to answer allegations of improper court proceedings stemming from a case two years ago.

EnEarl's hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Attorney General's Office before the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline.

A special prosecutor for the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline, Mary Boetsch, alleges that on May 21, 2001, EnEarl held a court proceeding without notifying a subject's attorney.

At that hearing, EnEarl revoked the probation of Joseph Manoukian and put him in jail for violating terms of his probation. Manoukian killed himself four days later.

Boetsch also alleges that EnEarl carried out the hearing in a "discourteous" and "impatient" manner and that he did not recuse himself from the case, despite apparent bias.
