DAYTON -- Lengths of pipeline snaking up the side of the hill just above Dayton on their way to Carson City are being laid by Southwest Gas.

The new pipeline will provide enough natural gas to supply nearly 4,600 homes, according to officials from Paiute Pipeline Co.

The three-month project is expected to be completed by October, according to Southwest Gas spokesman Roger Buehrer.

When completed, 14.5 miles of 20-inch pipe will be laid along Highway 95A north of Silver Springs and along Highway 50 west of Dayton.

In addition, the plans call for modifying pressure regulating facilities near Carson City, Stateline, Incline Village and Silver Springs. Crews will also be restoring the right-of-way property upon completion of construction. Construction began in Dayton on Flowery Avenue.

Nearly 100 people employed by Arizona Pipeline Co. will complete the construction work. SWCA Environmental Consultants will perform the environmental inspection services required. Residents and businesses along the pipeline will be contacted as work progresses near their property.

Paiute Pipeline Co. is a subsidiary of Southwest Gas Corporation. Paiute owns and operates an interstate natural gas pipeline system which extends from the Idaho border to the California-Nevada State line near Lake Tahoe.
