The Carson High girls soccer team could score any time it wanted on Tuesday against a short-handed Hug at CHS.
So the Senators were selective against Hug, which had just nine players -- two shy of the regulation 11. Even though they were selective as they could be, Carson still rolled to a 14-0 win.
Carson coach Randy Roser said his team was mainly focused on its ball control.
"There were a lot of two and three touches," he said. "Even though the score was high, they were only allowed to score on a quality finish."
Kasey Cano scored three goals, Katie Kotter, Cassie Bowman and Danielle Benamati all scored twice and Sarah Stalling, Krista Kerfeld, Laura Halle, Courtney Hayes and Sophia Raphael all added a goal. Stalling's goal came off of a rebound on a shot by Kathryn Rogers.
Kerfeld added two assists and Benamati and Stalling also had an assist. Goalie Allie Otto wasn't tested in posting the shutout.
FERNLEY GIRLS 2, SPARKS 0
Hillary Christenson scored both goals for the Fernley girls soccer team. She scored with a minute left in the first half off of an assist by Kelly McCormick and scored an unassisted goal in the second half. Tami Polson made eight saves in posting the shutout.
