A memorial service for 20-year Carson City resident John T. Schmidt Jr. will be 3 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church, 1505 Railroad Drive, in Carson City. Mr. Schmidt died Sept. 18 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 41.
Born in Bremerton, Wash., on Feb. 28, 1962, to John and Marilyn G. Edwards Schmidt, he was a security officer.
He met his wife of 19 years, Starla, shortly after arriving in Carson City from Bremerton. Mr. Schmidt enjoyed spending time with his family and was active in the Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church in various capacities, including security.
Starla Schmidt said he was known for his sense of humor and was outgoing and enthusiastic about life.
"He always lived each day to its fullest," she said. "He will be missed by all that knew him."
