A man was taken by Care Flight helicopter to Washoe Medical Center in serious condition after a motorcycle accident in Carson City late Thursday night, according to Carson City Sheriff's Department reports.

Rickey Evanoff, 23, was on his motorcycle when he hit a car on Richmond Street at about 11:45 p.m., the report states. He went over the handlebars and landed on a brick planter, causing substantial injury to his head and a broken leg.

"He was in Washoe Medical Center in serious condition," said Trooper Blair Harkleroad of the Nevada Highway Patrol, which also responded to the scene.

In the sheriff's department report, neighbors said the victim was leaving a home known to have frequent visitors at all hours of the evening. Witnesses said he had $1,300 in cash on him at the time of the crash.

Evanoff was arrested in 2001 on suspicion of burglary, trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale and possession of methamphetamine -- all felonies.
