Bordewich-Bray Elementary School Timeline
November 2001: Three types of toxic mold - cladosporium, penicillium-aspergillus and stachybotrys - are discovered within the walls of five portable classrooms.
May 2002: Carson City School District signs contract with Brewery Arts Center to use Performance Hall across the street for library and music classrooms to replace lost space.
June 2002: The portable buildings are demolished.
July 2002: Carson City School Board members submit ballot question asking voters to approve a $3.75 million bond to build an addition to the school.
November 2002: Bond passes.
April 2003: The "Nevada Plan" is decided on for the design of the classrooms. Instead of the traditional square- or rectangle-shaped rooms, they will be in the shape of the Silver State.
August 2003: Construction begins on the addition.
April 9, 2004: Students, staff and volunteers begin moving into new classrooms.
April 19, 2004: First classes scheduled to be held in the addition.
