Mary E. "Betty" LeFlore Butler, 76, an Ellensburg, Wash., resident for the past two years and a former Carson City resident, died April 10, 2004. She was born March 1, 1928, in Amite County, Miss.

She graduated from Gillsburg (Miss.) High School in 1945.

She married Norman H. Butler July 15, 1948, in Vicksburg, Miss.

Mrs. Butler was a former office manager and newspaper owner. She worked at the Nevada Appeal for 12 years.

She was a member of Eastern Star; a Soroptimist past president and past regional director; a founder of Court Appointed Special Advocates in Carson City; and a member of the Ellensburg Lions Club and Grace Episcopal Church. She enjoyed gardening, travel and birding.

Among her survivors are daughters Brenda Conroy of Ewing, N.J., and Penelope Butler of Carlton, Ore.; son, N. Douglas of Ellensburg; grandsons Nathan Butler of Ellensburg and Charles Conroy of Hope Mills, N.C.; great-granddaughter Brianna Conroy of Hope Mills; and five nieces and nephews.

Burial will be Monday in Gillsburg.
