Aaron Heberger, Alyce Kugler and Keston Denny all had outstanding performances this past weekend for the Carson-Douglas Rodeo Club at the Nevada High School State Rodeo in Lovelock.
Heberger, a Galena High senior, was the reserve all-around boys champion at the event, finishing second to all-around cowboy Jade Corkill of Fallon. On Sunday, Heberger took second in calf roping in 12.41 seconds and second in steer wrestling in 8.43. He was also ninth in team roping (17.79) while Denny took eighth (14.06).
Denny, a Douglas High junior, also won Saturday's steer wrestling in 9.46 seconds and placed seventh in Saturday's bull riding.
Carson High's Kugler took second in barrel racing on Saturday with an outstanding time of 18.204 and was third on Sunday in 18.407. She also took fifth in cutting on Sunday with a score of 71.5 and was 10th in Saturday's poles competition in 22.901 seconds. In addition, Douglas High's Jesse Bartorelli was fourth in Sunday's bareback riding.
