The Carson High swim teams came back from a hard duration of training during spring break and warmed up for its showdown with Reno High by sweeping South Tahoe on Tuesday.
Carson's girls won all by one event in beating South Tahoe 190-84 and the Senator boys won all but two events in defeating the Vikings 175-106. Carson will host Reno at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Carson Aquatic Center in a showdown between two of Northern Nevada's top teams.
In the girls meet, Carson's 200-yard medley relay team of Jamie Engan, Hilary Schlager, Jessica Goddard and Rebekah Niehoff while Engan and Barbara Perkins went one-two in the 200 freestyle with Engan winning in 1:58.56 and Perkins taking second. Niehoff also won the 200 individual medley.
Katie Wandel won the 50 free in 26.86 and Jessica Goddard took second in 27.63. In the 100 fly, Engan won in 1:01.255 and Goddard took second. Carson went one-two-three in the 100 free with Wandel winning (58.55), Schlager taking second (59.51) and Sarah-Jo Metcalf placing third.
In the 500 free, Niehoff won in 5:24.00 while Lauren Metcalf took second (5:24.69). Schlager, Lauren Metcalf, Wandel and Emily Johnson won the 200 free relay, Schlager won the 100 breaststroke with Lauren Metcalf taking second and Danielle Judge placing third and Wandel, Goddard, Engan and Niehoff won the 400 free relay.
For the boys, John Wandel, Jeff Stroup, Kiel Costella and Jake Oxoby won the 200 medley relay, Wandel won the 200 free while Stroup took second and Oxoby won the 50 free in 24.65 while Andrew Cardinal took second (24.74).
In addition, Oxoby won the 100 butterfly (58.77), Matt Willit won the 100 free (53.65) while Cardinal took second (53.81) and Costella won the 500 free while Stroup was second, Stroup, Cardinal, Kellen Dale and Willit won the 200 free relay, Wandel won the 100 backstroke (59.44) and Costella, Oxoby, Cardinal and Wandel won the 400 free relay.
