Douglas High graduates Tommy Bond, Chad Cooke and Kenny Nicoll are all playing key roles for the Dan College baseball team in its quest for a conference title.
As of April 10 the Nebraska NAIA school was in second in the Great Plains Athletic Conference after splitting a doubleheader with Concordia and sweeping a pair from Doane. Dana beat Concordia 6-2 before losing 7-6 and defeated Doane 13-3 and 8-1.
In the 6-2 win over Concordia, Bond went 3-for-4 with a triple, RBI and run scored. In the 7-6 loss to Concordia, Cooke was 2-for-3.
In the 13-3 win over Doane, Bond was 3-for-3 with three RBI and Cooke hit his second home run of the season. In the 8-1 win over Doane, Nicoll was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, giving Nicoll 13 doubles and seven homers on the year.
In other recent action, Nicoll was 2-for-4 with an RBI in a 4-1 win over Sioux Falls. In a 3-2 loss to Sioux Falls, Cooke had an RBI double and Nicoll pitched well on the mound.
In an 8-7 win over Mount Mary, Cooke was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scoredl IN an 8-4 loss to Mount Mary, Nicoll was 3-for-4 and scored three runs.
