Nicole Greer pitched all 14 innings to pick up both wins and the Dayton High softball team pounded out 20 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Truckee on Thursday.
Dayton (5-5, 4-2 in the Northern 3A) won the opener 11-2 and the nightcap 7-4. In the opener, Greer pitched a four-hitter, striking out eight and walking just one while allowing one earned run. She also helped herself at the plate with two hits, including a double, an RBI and three runs scored.
Lauren Fischer had two hits, a run and two RBI, Amanda Sbragia had a hit and three RBI, Melony Cox doubled, Jessie Ayres had two hits, including a double, and an RBI, Keeli Garcia and Kaitlen McKinnon each had a hit and a run, Sara Simmons had a double, two RBI and two runs and Michelle Bowman had a hit. Every hitter in Dayton's lineup had at least one hit.
In the nightcap, Greer struck out seven while pitching a two-hitter. Dayton was able to win despite making seven errors.
McKinnon had two hits, a double and a run, Ayres had two hits, an RBI and two runs, Greer and Bowman each had a hit and an RBI, Garcia had a hit, a run and an RBI and Fisher added a hit.
"We just hit the ball very well," Dayton coach Dusti Houk said. "I was very pleased with our offensive performance and Greer pitched two great games."
