A memorial service for Robert Michael Hebert, 60, a Carson City resident for the past seven years, will be at 1 p.m. May 8 at the Capital Christian Center Chapel, 1600 Snyder Ave.

Mr. Hebert died April 23, 2004, at Washoe Medical Center, from complications related to a heart condition. He was born May 29, 1943, in Wilmar, Calif.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Southern California prior to moving to the Reno area in 1985. He retired from the Reno Veterans Administration Medical Center in 1996.

He enjoyed racing and raced stock cars at Silver State Raceway in Carson City and go-karts at the Desert Park Raceway in Lemmon Valley. Following his retirement and move to Carson City, he started his own woodworking business, The Shape of Things, specializing in intarsia and fretwork.

Mr. Hebert served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960 to 1965.

Among his survivors are his wife, Salli of Carson City; daughters Danette Hebert of Portland, Ore., and Dana Crates of Redmond, Ore.; son, Scott of Columbus, Ohio; stepchildren Erin Baker of Puyallup, Wash., and Eric Painter of Bensalem, Penn.; sister, Sandy Chastain and niece, Jackie Crippen, both of Hercules, Calif.; six grandchildren; and one great-niece.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Fund or the American Lung Association.
