Rodman R. Powell

Rodman R. Powell, 77, a Nevada resident for the past 30 years, died Aug. 10, 2004, at home in Dayton. He was born Feb. 8, 1927, in Inglewood, Calif., to Anita Lynch.

Mr. Powell was a PBX installer for Pacific T&T for 31 years, retiring in 1975.

After retiring, he worked as a Douglas County school bus driver.

He was an avid collector of classic automobiles, guns and memorabilia. He enjoyed woodworking and making fine furniture and cabinetry and spending time with family and friends. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Order of the Scottish Rite.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific. He also spent time as a merchant marine.

Among his survivors are his wife of 54 years, Claire; daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Steve Bernal of Dayton; and son, Rodman of Redding, Calif.

A private wake will be held for family and friends.

Capitol City Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
