The alleged accomplice in the May shooting death of a Carson City man was in custody Thursday.
Reno police arrested Victor Rodriquez, 21, known to Carson City sheriffs as Steven Contreras, Wednesday night on charges of suspicion of felony accessory to murder, trafficking and misdemeanor failure to appear on a possession of marijuana charge.
Juan Carlos Alegria was shot dead May 25 on West Fourth Street following a domestic dispute involving Fidel Fuentes, his girlfriend Katie Armstrong and Maximilliano "Dagger" Cisneros.
According to police, Alegria, 23, accompanied Fuentes to Armstrong's west-side apartment shortly after midnight.
After Fuentes, 22, allegedly spotted Cisneros, 23, inside the apartment he kicked in the door.
A witness to the shooting stated Alegria was standing outside the apartment when Cisneros emerged and opened fire, striking Alegria three times in the torso and Fuentes once in the leg. Alegria died at the scene from his injuries. Fuentes recovered at Washoe Medical center.
Rodriquez was arrested that day about 11 a.m. when police went to his Long Street apartment in the search for Cisneros and allegedly found marijuana and paraphernalia. He bailed out six and a half hours later and disappeared, said Sgt. Bob White. Police believe he fled with Cisneros to Los Angeles.
"We suspected he was back in the area, but had been unable to find him," White said Thursday. "I'm very pleased."
A June 25 search of a storage unit rented in Rodriquez's alias, Steven Contreras, netted a cache of weapons and methamphetamine and led to the arrest of Saul Cisneros, 21, Maximilliano Cisneros' brother.
According to Saul Cisneros' arrest report, an informant told police he returned to Carson City from Los Angeles with "Steven Contreras" to retrieve the eight weapons, 62.6 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 1,500 rounds of ammunition found in the raid.
Saul Cisneros remains in the Carson City jail on $100,000 bail. Rodriquez is being held without bail. Police are still searching for Maximilliano Cisneros.
