Lynda Upton finished two strokes out of the money as the West Coast Ladies Golf Tour's Reno Women's Open came to a close on Thursday at Wolf Run Golf Club.
The tournament was cut short to 45 holes and to nine holes on Thursday due to lightning in the area. Upton, a 1997 Carson High and 2001 University of Nevada graduate, shot a 3-over-par 39 on the front nine on Thursday to finish with an 11-over 195. Upton had 18-hole scores of 6-over 78 on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Upton was that pleased with her play on what was her home course during college. She said that most players were shooting around a 1-over 37 on Thursday.
"It wasn't very good," said Upton about her play. "It was just kind of the way I played all week.
"I hit the ball well, solid. The short game wasn't there this week. That's what you need to win."
Lawrenceburg, Indiana's Natalie Tucker led from start to finish to win the title.
