Marie Valerie Kish Gunderson, 96, died Nov. 29, 2004, at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation in Gardnerville. She was born July 4, 1908, in Omaha, Neb., to Anton and Teresa Hessner Kish.
She attended high school in Boise, Idaho, before moving back to Omaha. She formed a dance band while in high school an played the piano for dances. She was a member of ROTC.
She married Robert S. Gunderson in 1932 in Omaha.
Before moving to Gardnerville, she lived in Fresno, Calif., and the Los Angeles area, moving to Nevada in 1955.
Mrs. Gunderson worked in many positions, mainly in the accounting field. After her husband died during World War II, she went to work as an armed guard at the Glenn L. Martin B-29 plant in Omaha.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Stanley; and brothers John and Frank Kish.
Among her survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Leveck of Gardnerville; nieces Rae Ann Kish Marx of Coarsegold, Calif., and Judee Kish Richey of Monterey, Calif.; nephew, Louis Kish of Morgan Hill, Calif.; sister-in-law, Amber Kish of Monterey; and five cousins.
A family celebration of life will be at a later date.
She was entombed Dec. 3 at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden.
