A memorial service for John T. Smith, 74, a Las Vegas resident for the past five years, will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Masonic Memorial Gardens, 437 Stoker Ave., Reno.
Mr. Smith died Jan. 15, 2004, at University Medical Center in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 10, 1929, in Elko to John Frank and Ruth Gladys Saunders Smith.
Mr. Smith retired as chief engineer for the railroad. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Winnemucca.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Among his survivors are his wife, Patsy L. of Las Vegas; daughters Dawn M. Smith and Dalene M. Griffiths, both of Gardnerville, and Darcie M. Westin of Carson City; son Max G. Mitchell of Boise, Idaho; daughters Diana K. Hunter of Port Angeles, Wash., and Karen Sue Webber of Rio Vista, Calif.; sisters Harriett Webber of Rio Vista and Frances Linn of Boise; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne is in charge of arrangements.
