Harriet Lorraine Jackson, 86, a Carson City resident for the past year, died Jan. 18, 2004, in Gardnerville. She was born Nov. 20, 1917, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Walter Edwin and Solveig Lillian Thora Heyer Carlson.
She graduated from Washburn High School and Northwestern Business College.
She married John Frederick Jackson on June 16, 1939, in Minneapolis and they lived in Anoka, Minn., for 61 years. She moved to Gardnerville three years ago and then to Carson City.
Mrs. Jackson was a stay-at-home mother while her children were growing up. In 1976, she went to work for the state as a Department of Motor Vehicles examiner where she worked for 10 years before retiring.
She was an active member of the First Congregational Church. She enjoyed the outdoors, animals, golf, traveling, gardening and her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Solveig Lunny of Westport, Conn., and brother, Sheldon Carlson of Merritt Island, Fla.
Among her survivors are her husband, of Carson City; daughter, Julie Flanagan, of Gardnerville; son, Jeffrey, of Carson City; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Funeral Home.
