Dayton's first family practice physician, Dr. Robert Kimmel, is expanding his practice to include family walk-in care at the Dayton HealthCare Center. ARC MedCenters is assisting Kimmel in the management of urgent care, family practice and expanded occupational medicine services at the center.

Kimmel, who opened his family practice in Dayton eight years ago, said ARC is a well-established provider of urgent care locally.

"With the strength and support of this association, we will be able to expand our Dayton services and medical staff," he said.

ARC owns and operates urgent-care centers in Reno, Sparks and Carson City. The company often pairs with local family physicians to provide medical care for families and businesses.

In addition to expanded services, the company provides backup coverage, said Wes Granstrom, president of ARC MedCenters.

"We're very excited about this opportunity," he said. "We have urgent-care facilities in Reno, Sparks and Carson City, and they've been growing significantly over the last 18 months. We're pleased to add a center in Dayton so we can provide comprehensive services there."

The urgent care, which opened Saturday, is at 5 Pine Cone Road, next to Smith's in Dayton. The center is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays. Dr. Kimmel sees patients on Mondays and Wednesdays. Physicians' assistant Bret Paulson is available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
