A memorial service for Yvonne Prentice, 85, a Carson City resident for the past 38 years, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Airport Road Church of Christ, 3209 Airport Road.

Mrs. Prentice died Feb. 10, 2004, at Evergreen Care Center. She was born Feb. 6, 1919, in Williamstown, W.Va., to Harold and Helen Browne Meister.

She graduated from Athens High School in Ohio and attended Ohio University for three years.

She married Dick Prentice in 1946. They later divorced.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Southern California from 1942-1945 where she worked at a military rehabilitation center in Yosemite Valley. She returned to Southern California until moving to Nevada in the mid-1950s.

Mrs. Prentice worked in retail sales at Chapel Antiques and Kitzmeyer-Cochran Drug Store. She also worked at the Ormsby House and Harrah's Club, Lake Tahoe, where she was a gaming instructor and the first female pit boss at Harrah's Club. She enjoyed reading, pets and oil painting.

Among her survivors is her childhood friend Lloyd Broedel of Marietta, Ohio.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
