A Carson City woman who works as a K9 officer for the Washoe County Sheriff's Office is under investigation for suspicion of burglary and using prescription drugs without a prescription, police said Friday.
Carson sheriff's Detective Bob Motamenpour said he received a complaint about Washoe County Sheriff's Deputy Michon Mills, 34, from a Carson City couple who is in litigation with Mills concerning a construction contract.
Motamenpour said the couple allegedly saw Mills leaving their home through a side door. When they went inside, they alleged, paperwork that supported their legal argument was missing.
They also alleged Mills took either Vicodon or Percocet, both painkillers, while in their home.
Motamenpour said he investigated both complaints and forwarded information to the Carson City District Attorney's Office.
Deputy Michelle Youngs, public information officer for the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, said Mills, who is assigned to detention and has worked for Washoe County for about 10 years, remains working because no charges have been filed.
"At this point we have an internal investigation that has been opened," Youngs said.
