Nobody asked us, but ...

John Flansberg told us, "There is a light at the end of the tunnel," regarding enclosed bus stops here in Carson City ... the two or three we have were donated by the Washoe Regional Transportation Commission ... additional ones are in the planning stage, along with a "fixed route transit system."

John went to Wyoming and Colorado and saw some "very tasteful" stops that were kept up by the businesses who advertised in them, at no cost to the taxpayer .... He said they'll be looking into a similar program here this summer. Sounds like they're moving in the right direction ... and thanks to John, and Supervisor Richard Staub, for keeping us informed ...

Brian Whalen informed us that a friend of his came up and asked him if he thought he looked old. Brian replied, "No older than the rest of us ... why?"

"Well, I just went into a restaurant and ordered a 3-minute egg and they wanted the money up front." Good grief ... though "it's better to be over the hill than under it ...."

And now, to be totally gross ... we see by the paper that the poop pond in Brunswick Canyon is taking a leak ... the devil made us say that ... tch, tch, tch.

We will be eternally grateful when Roop Street is widened ... we've both been stuck in heavy traffic on the north end by the cemetery and the south end by the Post Office when traffic was almost at a standstill ... take a book with you so you can read while you're waiting ....

So, the IRS has $2.5 billion in unclaimed tax refunds .. .we would be very happy to take that off their hands ... but in the likely event that that doesn't happen, why don't they put it into Social Security or Medicare? Both programs are in dire need of money ... just remember, we offered ....

Every now and then, there are people you see around town who make you smile and feel good 'cuz they're so nice ... this week it was Tom and Linda Johnson (boy, does she ever look smashing these days ... Tom ain't bad, either) dining at The Basil, Jay Aldrich "coffeeing" at Comma Coffee, Roy Houghton waving from his truck, and Paula Chatwood just stopping to talk ... only a few of the great people in this town ....

And now, a sad story ... we know a person (who will pay us dearly to be nameless) whose cat brought in a bird that was on its last legs ... she grabbed the bird from the cat, but could see it wasn't going to make it. In the interests of kindness, she decided she'd smother it, so she put a towel over it ... flutter, flutter, flutter ... two more towels were added with the same result. What to do??? So, she sat on it ... and the poor bird's spirit flew off to Bird Heaven (we hope) ... but she has a remaining question ... was that considered "glut-thanasia?"
