Lots to do on Presidents Day holiday

For those still twinging from a bite of the love bug on Valentine's Day, the Carson City Marriage Bureau will be open from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday. Those in Douglas County can also find a license at the county's valley and Stateline offices. Call 782-9015.

Also open are the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada and the Nevada State and Nevada State Railroad museums. The state and railroad museums are open from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Call 687-4810 or 687-6953. The Children's Museum is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Call 884-2226.

The Carson Valley Swim Center is open. Public swim is from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., waterslides and toys are open from noon - 5:30 p.m., adult lap swim is from 6 a.m.- 6 p.m. Call 782-8841 or visit carsonvalleyswimcenter.com. The Carson City Aquatics Center is closed.

For those looking for a day off behind the wheel, PRIDE will run in Carson City on a Sunday schedule. For information call 866-NV-PRIDE or visit www.866nvpride.com. A one-way fare on PRIDE costs $3 for adult, $1.50 for seniors age 60 and over and disabled passengers. Children ages 6 to 12 pay $2 for one-way, and younger than 5 are free.

The banks will be closed along with federal, state and county offices including the front counter of the Carson City Sheriff's Department will be closed. Those needing assistance from the Sheriff's Department can pick up the brown phone in the lobby of the Sheriff's Office.

There is no school today in the Carson City, Douglas, Lyon or Storey county school districts.

Students at the Western Nevada Community College and University of Nevada, Reno campuses also get the day off.

The U.S. Postal Service employees, except those delivering express mail, will also get a long weekend.
