Donald A. French, 90, of Everett, Wash., died Feb. 16, 2004, in Gardnerville. He was born April 17, 1913, to Bert and May Vernier French in Everett.

Mr. French owned and operated By's Brake service in Everett for many years. He enjoyed traveling.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn A. French.

Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Donald G. and Laurene of Troy, Mont.; stepson, Charles E. Bates and his wife Sandra of Hoquiam, Wash.; stepdaughters and their husbands Joetta B. Matheny and Fred of Everett and Frances L. Ivelia and Richard of Marysville, Calif.; stepniece Laurie Lang and her husband Dwaine of Wellington; daughter-in-law Dorothy Bates of Snohomish, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in Douglas is in charge of arrangements.
