Ruth Jolly Hauck aka Ruth M. Jolly, M.D., a Gardnerville resident for the past two years, died Feb. 17, 2004 in Carson City. She was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Hackensack, N.J., and grew up; in Anoka, Minn.
She graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in 1947 and from the University of California, Berkeley, where she obtained her master's degree in public health.
She married Gerard W. "Bill" Hauck in 1948.
Mrs. Hauck worked as clinician and district health officer for the Alameda County Health Department from 1950-66, residing in Castro Valley, Calif. In 1966, she moved to South Lake Tahoe where she worked for the El Dorado County Health Department as a clinician and had a part-time pediatrics practice. From 1969-79, she served as county physician and health officer for Alpine County.
She moved to San Jose, Calif., in 1980 to Los Banos, Calif., in 1993.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Frances King and Betty Sibary and daughter, Janet Hauck.
Among her survivors are her husband; son and daughter-in-law, Karl and Patti, daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Michael Dodd; brother and sister-in-law, Donald C. and Mary Jolly of Bend, Ore.; granddaughters Luanne Cunningham, Heather Redlark, Emily Round and Amber Baca; stepgrandson Michael Dodd and five grandchildren.
No service is planned.
