Ralph George Seiler Jr., 80, a Gardnerville Ranchos resident for the past four years, died Feb. 21, 2004, in Reno. He was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Arlington, Texas, to Willie Belle Smith and Ralph George Seiler Sr.

Before moving to the area, he lived in Bountiful, Utah.

Mr. Seiler worked as a computer programmer for the Department of Defense in Bountiful. After retiring in 1984, he enjoyed gardening, bicycling, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Marines as a pilot in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis in 1986 and brother, Robert in 2003.

Among his survivors are his wife, Ora Leigh; son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Elisa Seiler of Carson City; daughter, Laura Jane Seiler of Lakewood, Colo.; brother, Donald of Arlington; sister, Suzy Martin of Greenville, Texas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Northern Nevada Chapter.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
