A family memorial service for Loy Dean Scott, 78, a Carson City resident for the past 18 years, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
Mrs. Scott died Feb. 24, 2004, in Carson City. She was born Jan. 13, 1926, in Marlow, Okla., to Ernal M. and Lucille Klepper Scott.
She married John K. O'Neil Feb. 26, 1946, in Las Vegas. They were divorced.
Before moving to Carson City, she lived at South Lake Tahoe for four years and Alamo, Calif., for 25 years.
Mrs. Scott was a newspaper compositor for the Wynnewood Gazette in Oklahoma, the South Lake Tahoe Daily Tribune, the Contra Costa Times and the Los Angeles Herald Examiner. She was a member of the DAT team of the American Red Cross, Sierra Chapter and the Stewart Baptist Church in Eagle Valley.
She was preceded in death by her brother.
Among her survivors are her children John Paul O'Neil and Evelyn L. O'Neil, both of Carson City; sisters Karen Scott of California and Donna Hickman of Oklahoma; brothers James Scott of Norman, Okla., Phil Scott of Window Rock, Ariz., Ray Scott of Wynnewood, Okla., and Klepper Scott of Pass Christian, Miss.; and grandchildren Morgan R. Hickey and Brendan O'Neil.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
