A robber held a knife to the back of a female clerk Thursday night and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash from a 7-Eleven store in North Carson City.
The robbery happened about 9:30 p.m.
The suspect was playing slot machines in the store at 3701 N. Carson St. for a short time and had gone to the clerk at one point and asked for a quarter for three dimes. When other customers came into the store and the clerk was distracted, he went behind the counter and caught the clerk by surprise, said Deputy Dena Lacy Legros,
The man held a knife to the victim's back and demanded money, Lacy said. The clerk told police she commented "this must be a joke," and he pushed the knife harder against her.
The clerk then opened the register and the man grabbed the money, jumped over the counter and left the store on foot.
Carson City Sheriff's Sgt. Bob White said the robber is described as a Hispanic male adult in his late 20s early 30s, wearing a black hooded pullover jacket with a triangle on the back, black pants and white tennis shoes. He had a medium build and a beard or goatee.
