A memorial service is 11 a.m. Monday at Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington for Hans Fuchs, 81, a Wabuska resident for 10 years. The funeral home is located at 25 Highway 208.
Born Oct. 25, 1922, in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, where he served in the Swiss Army, he came to the United States in 1948. He arrived in Reno in 1952 after working in Elkhorn, Milwaukee, Wis., and San Rafael, Calif.
Mr. Fuchs worked in a number of bakeries in Reno, including the Nevada Club and the Horseshoe Club, before starting the Matterhorn Swiss Bakery in 1971 with his wife, Margaret.
He retired in 1993 to his ranch in Wabuska where he loved to work in his garden and listen to baseball games.
Mr. Fuchs is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret; children Chris, Ron, Dennis, Cindy and Gary; sister Elsi Fuchs in Winterthur, Switzerland; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Donations may be made to the Smith Valley Community United Methodist Church, 44 Rivers Road in Smith.
