A funeral for Phyllis G. Laird, 93, a Carson City resident for the past 48 years, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Carson City.
Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
Mrs. Laird died Dec. 28, 2003, in Carson City. She was born Feb. 16, 1910, in Elko to James and Eva McMahan Churchfield.
Before moving to Carson City, she was a longtime resident of Eureka.
Mrs. Laird worked for the Eureka County Hospital for many years. After moving to Carson City, she worked at the Frontier Motel then the Nevada Department of Corrections' Women's Facility, from which she retired. She was a past member of the Pithian Sisters and the First Baptist Church of Carson City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John D.; son Cecil G. "Red"; and daughter-in-law Valene Cooper Laird.
Among her survivors are her son John E. of McGill; daughter and son-in-law Joanne Cain and Charles Ward and daughter-in-law Martha Laird, all of Carson City; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Entombment will be at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
