Staff Reports
The Galena High boys basketball team had a balanced attack to go along with a strong defensive effort in a 60-30 win on Friday at Spanish Springs.
Galena led 13-4 after one quarter and 32-7 at halftime. "I was real happy with our defense," Galena coach Tom Maurer said.
The Grizzlies had nine players score, including four who scored in double figures despite limited playing time. With Spanish Springs concentrating on Derek Lorenzen, who scored 12 points, that opened it up for other Galena players.
"I was really pleased with Derek Lorenzen," Maurer said. "Derek really did a great job of drawing attention and giving it up and the other kids contributed big. We had really nice balance."
Iain Hill and Ryan Bristol each scored 11 points and Justin Houk added 10 points for Galena.
