Staff Reports
The Carson High girls basketball team had an encouraging performance against Reed considering the Raiders couldn't miss from three-point range.
Reed hit 10 threes on its way to a 70-61 win on Saturday in Sparks. Even though the Raiders hit 10 treys, Carson still made a better showing than when it hosted Reed in their first meeting, won by the Raiders 55-39.
Brittany Moore, Ashly Keefer and Maria Moore combined to hit all of Reed's 10 threes. Brittany Moore hit five threes on her way to scoring 21 points, Keefer scored all 12 of her points on threes and Maria Moore hit Reed's other trifecta on the way to scoring 17 points.
Katie Kotter scored 19 points, Nicole Scott had 12 points, Ciarra Christian had 11 points and Andrea Hoff and Tabitha Adams each added six points for Carson.
"We did show improvement," Carson coach Alana Williams said. "I don't like losing of course, but I felt like we just had a good performance against some hot shooting. I just frelt like they had a lights out night.
"I've never seen anything like it. They could not miss. We had someone on them and we had a hand in their face. There's not much you can do."
WHITTELL BOYS 62, SILVER STAGE 54
Antonio Jefferis scored 26 points, but it wasn't enough for Silver Stage against Whittell in boys basketball. Dan Shapiro scored 18 points and Chris Shapiro added 16 points for Whittell.
