Lorraine A. Bickel-Dixon, 83, of Yerington died Jan. 9, 2004, at South Lyon Medical Center's long-term care unit in Yerington. She was born May 18, 1920, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Albert and Anna Schuhbauer Suchand.
She graduated from high school and business school in New York.
She married Charles Bickel in 1943. They moved to Los Angeles.
She worked for the New River School of the Norwalk, Calif., School District. She moved to Big Creek, Calif., where she worked part-time for the school. After moving to Placerville, Calif., she worked for the school district and El Dorado County.
She loved music and played the organ. She was active in the Kitchen Band at the senior center, where she sang.
She married Iverd Dixon in 1982.
She was preceded in death by her husbands and brothers Charles Malzer and Richard Malzer.
Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Edna Bickel of Yerington; daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Gary Aubrey of Minden; brothers Edward Malzer of Tucson, Ariz., and Carlton Suchand of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; granddaughter and husband Jodi and Martin Ordaz and great-granddaughter, Alexandra Ordaz, all of Sparks; and long-time companion Art Bortz of Placerville.
No service will be held. Her remains will be buried next to her mother and husband in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Placerville.
