A funeral for Roger A. Clampitt, 59, a Carson City resident for the past 44 years, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Clampitt died Jan. 11, 2004, in Carson City. He was born Aug. 1, 1944, in Oroville, Calif., to Everett and Barbara McClure Clampitt.

He graduated from Carson High School and the Career College of Northern Nevada as an electronics technician.

He married Cindy L. Mercer April 10, 1965, in Reno.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived at Lake Tahoe and Reno.

Mr. Clampitt was an electronic technician for National Cash Register Co. for the last five years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Deacon Emeritus of the church. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 28 years and was a ham radio operator.

He served in the National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his mother and sister.

Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Lance Stretch of Edgewood, Wash.; son and daughter-in-law, Brett and Tonya of Carson City; father, of Boise, Idaho; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Clara of Gridley, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Burial will be in a vault at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
