Carson boys skiing defeats McQueen

The Carson High boys skiing team stayed unbeated with an impressive 88-68 win over McQueen on Wednesday.

Carson (5-0) also beat Rite of Passage 90-36 in the three-way event in which the teams competed in the giant slalom. Devon Anderson and freshman Mats Boehnke turned in outstanding efforts in sweeping the top two spots for the Senators against McQueen and ROP. Carson swept the top four spots against the two schools as James Reavis and Brett Andersen tied for third.

Anderson won in 31.7 seconds and Boehnke was second in 32.3. Carson coach Jack Reinhardt said Boehnke's performance was impressive since he skied conservatively. Reavis and Andersen tied at 32.6.

Caleb McCoy finished in 34.8, good enough for fifth against ROP and eighth against McQueen. Robbie Beasson placed sixth against ROP in 37.6.

Carson has been skiing without Danny Rotter, who has missed the first five contests after having his wisdom tooth pulled. Rotter still has seven contests left to qualify for state. "He can qualify easily," Reinhardt said.

The Senator girls lost 88-62 to McQueen and were awarded a 90-0 win over ROP, which doesn't have a girls team. Greta Schnaser placed fourth (39.2), Sydney Parker took seventh (41.3), Megan Carter was ninth (43.2), Nichole Monge was 11th (44.1) and Jessica Goddard placed 12th (44.3) against McQueen for Carson (3-1-1).
