A memorial service for Florence A. Knighten, 86, a Carson City resident for the past year, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church of Carson City.
Mrs. Knighten died Jan. 20, 2004, in Carson City. She was born Aug. 11, 1917, in Parkfield, Calif., to Ross Ithmer and Millie Woll Gavette.
She married Jess Knighten Dec. 20, 1935, in Ukiah, Calif.
Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Pinole, Calif.
Mrs. Knighten was an operations officer in the banking industry. She enjoyed reading, gardening, her family and travel. She was a Methodist.
She was preceded in death by her husband and sisters Ruth Fowler-Donson, Hazel Bartlett and Thelma Hill-Vories.
Among her survivors are her daughters Leona Alexander of Carson City and Barbara Bianco of Red Bluff, Calif.; sisters Maxine Hendricks of Ukiah and Lucille Hill of Finley, Calif.; brother, Ross Stanley Gavette of Scottsdale, Ariz.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1281 Terminal Way, Reno, NV 89502 or to a charity of choice.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
