The Sierra Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross will end the month with a benefit concert Friday by local composer and solo pianist Chad Twedt.

Twedt will perform at his alma mater, the University of Nevada, Reno's Nightingale Concert Hall. He was classically trained from the age of 6, and began composing after completing his master's degree in piano performance at UNR.

Twedt travels and performs to help raise money for Red Cross. He is especially excited to help raise money for the Sierra Chapter of the Red Cross.

February is such a sweet month, and the women at St. Teresa of Avila will celebrate with "An Evening of Chocolat."

Sip champagne and delight in non-fattening chocolate treats while viewing artwork by locals. There will also be a raffle to win some fun items.

Proceeds will benefit the Ladies Guilds of St. Teresa.

The following weekend, you can work off all the champagne and chocolate with the annual Sunset Rotary Club's Holiday for Lovers Dance.

Dance the night away to First Take, a jazz vocalist band featuring Rick Metts. A romantic candle-lit dinner of prime rib or salmon, photos to remember the night with your Valentine and favors for the women are included.

For you guys out there who don't know what to do on Valentine's Day. this is a great beginning.

For a "girls' night out," bring your girlfriends, sisters, mothers, daughters, and female co-workers to "A Night at the Oscars Soroptimists Style." Come dressed as your favorite move star or in your finest Oscar clothes.
