The Yerington High boys basketball team took control in the second quarter and held on for a 61-58 win over Truckee on Tuesday.
Yerington (12-6, 4-3 in the Northern 3A) outscored Truckee 17-10 in the second quarter and 14-11 in the third quarter to lead 49-41 going into the fourth quarter.
"It was a close game all the way through," Yerington coach Daron Wildermuth said. "The kids play hard. That's all I can ask. We are not where we want to be but we're getting there."
Dylan Johnson scored 16 points, Jay Sciarani had 12 points and Derek Lee Jr. posted 12 rebounds for the Lions.
