Albert E. Taylor, Jr.

A memorial service for Albert E. Taylor Jr., 76, a Dayton resident for the past 13 years, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.

Mr. Taylor died July 7, 2004, at his home. He was born March 1, 1928, in Los Angeles, to Albert E. and Mildred Bennett Taylor.

Before moving to Dayton, he lived in Riverside, Calif.

He eloped with Vera Higel on Oct. 24, 1947.

Mr. Taylor was owner/operator of C&T Marine in Downey, Calif., for many years. He also owned a pack station in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. He was a past member of the National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid outdoorsman and raced outboard motors from 1956-64. He set a speed record for outboard motorboats at 63 mph in 1959 which he held for three years.

Among his survivors are his wife and sons Eddy and Ken, all of Dayton and Larry of Tustin, Calif.; daughter, Carole Crowe of Riverside; brother, Jess Taylor of Palmdale, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory. FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
