A Carson City teen pleaded guilty Monday to sexual assault in the April rape of a male classmate.
In exchange for the plea, the District Attorney's Office agreed to not pursue any additional charges against Harold Willard, 16.
Willard faces 10 years to life in prison at his August sentencing.
The Carson High School sophomore allegedly assaulted a 15-year-old boy by threatening his life and brandishing a shotgun March 30, telling the victim it was part of an initiation into a racist gang. On March 31, another teen allegedly aided Willard in sexually assaulting the same victim.
Willard, who turned 16 on March 29, met the criteria to be charged as an adult because of the nature of the crime, his age and a prior felony conviction in juvenile court, prosecutors said.
The second teen, who was 15, pleaded guilty in juvenile court to gross misdemeanor false imprisonment and unlawful possession of a firearm.
