The Carson City Recreation Department will hold its first Capital City Kids Triathlon. The event will be held on Sunday at the Carson Aquatic Facility and Mills Park.
Boys and girls ages 4-14 can participate. Registration is at 8 a.m. Sunday. Preregistration can also be done today at the Carson Aquatic Facility or Fleet Feet. Cost is $10 if preregistered, $15 if registered on Sunday.
The start times for the event will be 8:30 a.m. for 13-14-year-olds, 9 for 11-12, 9:30 for 9-10, 10 for 7-8 and 10:30 for 4-6. Bike safety inspections and bike helmets will be mandatory. All bike inspections must be completed a half hour prior to each age group time.
The course will be a 200-meter swim, 2.6 mile bike ride and 1.3 mile run for 13-14; 200-meter swim, 2.6 mile bike ride, .8 mile run for 11-12; 100-meter swim, 1.3 mile bike ride and .4 mile run for 9-10; 100-meter swim, .8 mike bike ride and .4 mile run for 7-8; and 25-yard swim, .8 mile bike ride and .4 mile run for 4-6.
Each participant will receive a t-shirt and every finisher will receive a medal. Drawing prizes will be offered as well. For more information, call the Carson Aquatic Facility, 887-2243.
