Jeannette Uhart, 79, a Nevada resident for the past 55 years, died July 26, 2004, at home in Carson City. She was born Dec. 18, 1924, in Arneguy, France, Basque Pyreenes, to Dominic and Anastasia Uhalde. She immigrated with her parents in 1946.
She married Jean Baptiste Uhart in 1948, in Gridley, Calif.
She lived in Carson City from 1948 to 1972, and in Reno from 1972 to 2003.
Mrs. Uhart was involved in sheep ranching with her husband in Nevada and California. She enjoyed Basque cooking and dancing. She was a member of the Reno and Gardnerville Basque clubs.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Pete, Sherman and John; and sister, Agnes Etcheverria.
Among her survivors are her husband of 56 years; daughter and son-in-law Mary and Patrick Douglass; son and daughter-in-law John and Robyn Uhart; grandchildren Kelsey and Sam Douglass, Olivia Uhart, and Ryan and Jared Zaro; sisters Florence Bordarrampe of Buffalo, Wyo., and Mary Etcheverry of Live Oak, Calif.; and six nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
