The Washoe County Sheriff's Office and the Nevada Highway Patrol have stepped up traffic enforcement in Pleasant and Washoe valleys.
The special enforcement which began Wednesday at noon is in response to numerous traffic complaints by residents, said Sgt. Michael Gross of the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.
The speed limit through those areas is 50 mph.
Motorists are reminded that they are required by law to obey the posted speed limit and traveling above the posted limit may result in a citation being issued. In addition, motorists are reminded of the new Nevada State Law requiring vehicles to slow or change lanes upon approaching an emergency vehicle stopped along the side of the roadway with its emergency lights activated.
