We told you last week that Carolyn is relocating ... she is now officially "homeless," but is looking for a house with no yard (unless a totally hunky cabana boy comes with the home), about 1,200 square feet, affordable, etc., etc. If anyone knows of something that fills these requirements, please contact Maizie immediately ... she is tired of hearing about it ....

Over the weekend, we heard about two men who went into a store to buy hamburgers in Natchitoches. They were discussing how to pronounce it ... was it Nak-a-toe-chiz ... or Natch-it-oh-cheez ... or what? They asked a young man who was passing by the question, "How do you pronounce the name of this place?" He looked from man to man, shook his head, and said, "Brrrr-Grrrr-King."

"Wagons hooooo..." The yearly wagon train from Fuji Park to Placerville will be headin' out this weekend, with stopovers at Spooner summit and South Lake Tahoe. Rachel Andersen and her Mom, Carol Read-Andersen, will be among the "pioneers" going over the hill ... it sounds like lots of fun, but, quite frankly, the original pioneers would have kicked us off in St. Joseph, Mo ... we're wusses ... yee-hah anyway ....

We saw a tattoo this week of a fist with "the finger" engraved on a man's calf ... how classy and tasteful ... and we look at all the tattoos women are getting these days ... barbed wire, flowers, you name it ... wonder what they'll look like when they're 60? Will the wire droop and the flowers wilt? Just wondering ....

It reminds us of the story of "Gigi," a loving grandmother, whose favorite grandson one day said, "Gigi, your face looks like the sidewalk."
"How so, dear?" she asked.
"It has cracks in it," he replied. Needless to say, his "favorite" status has taken quite a hit ....

Also, the Proscenium Players annual meeting will be tomorrow on the lawn on the west side of the BAC's Performance Hall (the old St. Teresa's). Everyone is welcome (as long as you bring a dish to share ... we suggest Brad Pitt) ... takes place at 6 p.m ... bring a lawn chair, too ... baked beans, tri-tip, chicken, utensils, pop, etc. will be furnished, but A-M, bring a salad or side; and N-Z, bring dessert (we like Cherries Jubilee, Bananas Foster, or Baked Alaska, if you want to know) ... be square, see you there ....

One more weekend for WNCC's wonderful "Wizard of Oz" ... call 445-4249 for times and reservations ... and wear your ruby slippers when you go ....

The more we think about it ... what ditz designed the Post Office parking lot? It couldn't be any worse than if we had done it ... and has SNEA looked at what they call a lawn lately ... for Pete's sake, jack up the price of membership a few cents and hire a lawn-boy (or Carolyn's future cabana boy) ... the "rock pile" is most unattractive ....

Good news ... the da Vinci Foundation is enrolling it's first students this summer. Nate Walker will be teaching a class to approximately eight recent high school graduates on "Transitions and Transformations." Go to www.columbia. edu/~nw163/daVinci.htm for more information and enrollment. da Vinci College will soon be located near Genoa and is affiliated with Columbia University ... way to go, Nate ....

Maizie went to UNR's Alumni College last week ... she got to tour the Whittell mansion at Lake Tahoe, go to a festival at North Bloomfield, Calif., eat a delicious lamb dinner at Ferrari's Crown Motel at King's Beach, and so on ... Gen. Doug Byington, was the "fearless leader" (he actually is a real general), although if he led them up another staircase, or down another mineshaft, she was going to be sure he went the way of Jimmy Hoffa ... it was great, exhausting fun ... now it's time for a nap ....

A belated Happy Birthday to Sandy Edwards ... she was out and about for breakfast on Sunday at Tequila Dan's ....

Tragedy hit the family of Brenda Scott last week when she was killed near Pyramid Lake just prior to her son's eighth-grade graduation ... her daughter, Alona Bough, is an OB tech at Carson-Tahoe Hospital ... a memorial fund has been set up at Olsen & Associates, 330 E. Liberty St., Suite 200, Reno, NV 89501 ... your help is appreciated...
